Ottesen has an mfa from Oslo National Academy of arts, a bfa from Bergen National academy of arts and a Bachelor degree in Art History from the University of Oslo.

As an artist-curator, she work theoretically based with text and contemporary practices with the goal of creating space for the underground scene in the Norwegian art field. In principle, this work is about being in solidarity with her own field, and about ensuring a strong and rich field of study. In painting she work with a variety of techniques; textile paint, acrylic, water-based oil paint, gouache, pencil, chlorine and ink which she pictures as prepositions. Slowly, over several months, she apply the colors, together with various stencils and tape, horizontally on untreated canvases. Her interest lies in the process itself, how the colors dry and react differently with the canvas, and with each other; a kind of controlled chaos dictates especially through composition and juxtaposition of colors. In parallel with this material-exploring work. This can later be integrated into the paintings through poetry, or remain in the studio as an archive or memory. She often work with abstract and poetic landscapes, with open scripts and visual storytelling, and perhaps also what one could stretch to call spiritual processes, and given new meaning, the works perhaps present what one could call a lifestyle-based practice.
